Eumed represents the overview of the EU programmes in the field of medical informatics in scope of the Framework Programme (FP) providing a coherent and truly European framework for supporting Research and Technological Development (RTD) as part of Community research policy and constitutes a four-year strategic plan.
Trans-national collaboration in research, particularly between industry and universities, and the establishment of networks of excellence was stimulated in this FP. FP5 compromises four thematic programmes, each addressing a series of scientific, technological and societal issues.
